Phoebes extend their arms. Here the heady scent of refreshing, Scenery in diversity found. Entering the place by evening, Someone else appears nearby, Also this cottage and the dull old sky. In the bamboo forest all twisted and rude, Around the walls again, Poetic firefly and cicada wink. Drinking more sorrow, His figure recurs behind a hedge, The deepest images and reflections now.
The conscience sound makes one's time, Between the paths of darling strife, The irregular phenomena of life. It is his straw-thatched shelter, With the shadows of the night, He retreats from all eyes as in lone ground. To catch the lotus soul in a sort of special picture, His mind drifting with the waves, Crucian sentimental, ruffle with sad vein. Fretted with the dimness, Such melancholy thoughts, More unexpected from rhythmical stream.

Notes: "Thatched Cottag": The Thatched Cottage was the former home of the great Chinese poet Du Fu in Tang Dynasty when he was in Chengdu, China. The Thatched Cottage covers a total area of 24 hectares (about 59 acres), and is the combination of both Fan'an Temple in the east and the Plum Garden in the west. Construction inside belongs to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) style, with gardens in the unique compound style of traditional Chinese gardening. "Phoebe": Phoebe is a genus of evergreen trees and shrubs belonging to the Laurel family, Lauraceae. There are approximately 100 species in the genus, distributed in tropical and subtropical Asia and neotropical America. 35 species occur in China. "Shelter": The area includes several amazing structures. Next to each other in a line that divides the whole thatched cottage area into two parts are the Screen Wall, the Gate, the Lobby, the History in Verse Hall, the Faggot Gate, and the Gong Bu Temple. On each side there are cloisters and other attached buildings echoing each other. "The Lotus Soul": The Lotus Soul was created in 1898 by Frantisek Kupka in Symbolism style. Kupka was a Czech painter and graphic artist. He was a pioneer and co-founder of the early phases of the abstract art movement and Orphic Cubism. Kupka's abstract works arose from a base of realism, but later evolved into pure abstract art.
