Notes: “Sunflowers”: Some of Vincent van Gogh's most famous works are his Sunflower series. He painted a total of twelve of these canvases, although the most commonly referred to are the seven he painted while in Arles in 1888 - 1889. The other five he had painted previously while in Paris in 1887. “Tuscan”: “Under the Tuscan Sun” (2003) is an amiable film that, in the tradition of escapist fiction, provides a nice, scenic getaway with just enough drama to keep the story from getting stagnant. Watch it for the scenery, and for Lane’s warm performance. Italian Cypress trees A symbol of the Tuscan countryside. The famous trees featured in Vincent Van Gogh’s magnificent painting ‘Wheat field with cypresses’. “Magic hues”: Upon looking at these paintings one begins to notice aspects that seem to flow from one piece to another.
